Cardonet Expands Product Information Management Solution With Introduction of Cardonet Synergy™ Software

Offers Enhanced Capabilities for Retail Manufacturers and Distributors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - May 25, 2004 – Cardonet, Inc., a provider of advanced product information management (PIM) solutions for medium to large enterprises, today introduced Cardonet Synergy, an enhanced suite of product information management software featuring all of the capabilities of Cardonet’s existing Product Master software, plus added support for data synchronization, product data hierarchies, and other features aimed at the specific needs of manufacturers and distributors in both the retail and industrial sectors.

The announcement coincides with this week’s U Connect Conference being hosted by UCCnet in Anaheim, California, where Cardonet is demonstrating the new Synergy software to a wide range of companies attending sessions regarding data synchronization, radio frequency identification (RFID), and other retail supply chain issues.

Cardonet Synergy includes a complete data synchronization and publishing engine that has been UCC-certified for UCCnet™ Services. This allows retail manufacturers and other suppliers to use Cardonet Synergy to meet the data synchronization mandates issued by Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s and other large retailers, while also leveraging the software’s advanced workflows and rules-driven PIM capabilities to streamline their internal product information processes.

"UCCnet compliance is on everybody’s radar screen these days, and most retail suppliers have some sort of pilot plan in place to meet a customer mandate," said Itay Meiri, CEO and Founder of Cardonet. "But being able to deliver item information via UCCnet Services is only the beginning. The real challenge lies in setting up an efficient, and easily repeatable internal process for originating new items or shippers, adding different case, pack, or pallet configurations, and fully enriching the item information to meet not only data synchronization requirements, but also the needs of web sites, print publishing, and other information channels. Cardonet Synergy turns this challenge into an opportunity, helping companies to gain greater consistency, visibility and control over their product information than every before."

New Support for Attribute Inheritance
Cardonet Synergy features a flexible workflow environment where multiple team members can collaborate to capture, enrich, and validate information about new items or packages, in a serial or parallel process, before submitting them for synchronization and publishing. Introducing new items is made even easier by the software’s ability to support “product family hierarchies” where attribute values from the higher levels of the hierarchy are automatically inherited by the individual items within the family, reducing effort and ensuring consistency of information. Also new in Cardonet Synergy is support for multi-value attributes, providing better handling of products with multiple color and size variants, as well as enabling bullet lists of features to be efficiently incorporated into the central information repository.

Cardonet Synergy includes other popular Cardonet options such as a self-service portal for easy uploading of product information by external suppliers, a channel manager for automated syndication of product information files to large numbers of “non-UCCnet” data recipients, and a customizable web catalog with browsing and shopping cart capabilities.

Cardonet Synergy is offered on a licensed basis for easy “behind-the-firewall” deployment, and is available immediately. Prices vary depending on the configuration.
